Before and After

I could have easily titled this post a lot of things, such as, "Why it is important to hire a skilled portrait photographer" or "Don't hang a baby from a tree" or "Reason #307 of why I don't give out unedited images". I figured before and after says it all!

The following images are an example of a before and after. They are also an example of a composite. A composite is when a photographer combines two images and blends them together to create one. In this instance, I took the image of the baby being supported by moms front arm and one where her arm was removed and blended them together. I then edited out her back arm, straightened the image, and then added a background to add depth. From that point, I did my normal amount of editing.

Please remember that half of your photographers job is editing your images. It takes time and skill and know how to acheive a polished image. It is likely that when you see an image of a baby hanging from a tree, that image was a composite. Please don't attempt it!

Remember that when you pay for your custom portraiture, you aren't just paying for my time at our session. You are paying for the time I have spent learning these skills and applying them to create unique images from your session!

I had the joy of meeting up with Eli and his parents for our 6 mth session. Time flies way too quickly! We were able to get some great smiles out of him. The funny part was when he was totally stone faced. A moving truck pulled up and the moving guys hoped out. He turned to them and gave them the biggest smile ever! We thought we were going to have to hire them to help us!

He was an angel though and I am so happy to share a few...

This session was originally scheduled for March, but this sweet little man couldn't stay well! Fortunetly, we were finally able to schedule our session. It turned out to be a very hot and humid afternoon and he wanted nothing to do with it. Poor baby! In the end, a game of peek a boo won him over and we got some of the sweetest smiles ever!

Little Lucy Kate absolutely makes me laugh. I get so much joy out of editing her sessions. She has incredible expressions that just make me laugh out loud. She put up with quite a bit as we did our session. Not to mention that it was pretty hot out. We were able to capture some images of her doing the things she loved and included mom and dad in a few as well. I was so pleased with the results! Enjoy!

At our three month session, Mr. William would not smile when I pointed the camera at him. Seriously! I was there 4 hours. We finally got some amazing smiles at the end of our session, but it took a while! Well, we juat finished his six month session and he was a total ham for the camera! It was fabulous and we finished our session in 60 minutes this time. What a change! He was just an angel and up for anything we threw at him. Loving these images!

I can't believe Miss Ella is 6 months old already! We went out to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve for her session. It was a very hot afternoon, but she did wonderfully. She has the most beautiful blue eyes and put up with us as we wandered around in the tall grass and trails. They provided the perfect contrast. Enjoy some of my favorites!

I was lucky enough to meet this sweet girl in her mama's belly, then at her birth and her newborn session. I couldn't believe that she was six months already! Time goes too quickly. We did some of just her and some as a family. We even squeezed in Grandma and Grandpa. We had a lovely afternoon with spring flowers blossoming everywhere! Not to mention she was wearing silk. Did you know silk has to be dry cleaned? LOL! We think she knew that, as she decided it was the perfect outfit to get dirty. Babies are the best. Enjoy!

This little girl threw everyone off and decided to come early! Thankfully I was able to work in her session anyway and I was so glad I did! This sweet little girl does not like to smile for me. I even went to her house and played with her toys and crawled around on the floor acting like a goofball. No luck. While I know mom was disapointed in the lack of laughter, I always come away from her sessions feeling like you could reach down and touch her very soul. Her face and eyes are so deep and she conveys great emotion even without a smile. I just love her to peices!!!

The only smile we got was in the swimming pool... our last ditch effort!!

This little man was welcomed with love by his mama and papa on Friday morning. Mom was amazing as she worked hard to bring him into the world at a local birth center, despite having been awake for a VERY long time. His birth was just beautiful and I love seeing babies come out awake and alert. He was very interested in everything he saw! Just beautiful. Congrats to this amazing new family!

This sweet mama was not planning to have a c-section, but a normal prenatal visit turned into a trip to L&D and two beautiful babies! I was honored to capture these moments for them as they welcomed two girls into their family. They weighed almost the exact same amout, only off by grams. They were strong and loud as well! They will be well cared for by their big sister I am sure. Three girls... what a blessing! Thanks you guys for letting me share it with you.

Sping has sprung and we had a lovely session at the Arboretum with my smilely girl. She is so sweet... 6 outfit changes, numerous positions, flowers and three hours later we finally finished our session! The amazing part was that she was teething. You could hardly tell. What a trooper.

We were blessed with some lovely images though. And once again, we got her to sleep. I will be shocked if we accomplish it at her one year session too! Enjoy this sweet girl and her smile!

Willow is going to have quite a story to tell about her birth weekend. I met her parents Saturday afternoon to do a maternity session. In the middle of our session, Mom's water broke! It was quite the adventure! Willow, however, decided she wanted to wait until Easter Sunday to come into this world.

After a whirlwind, she was born by emergency c-section and I was lucky enough to be there to capture it all. She is amazingly beautiful and so alert. It was like she couldn't wait to get into this world and see what she has been missing. Mom and Dad just adore her, and they should!

That is right! The bluebonnets are poking thru and the sea of blue makes me so happy that I want to jump out of moving vehicles while travelling on the interstate just so I can touch them! Ok, maybe that is a little drastic, but these are my favs of the whole year.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the birth of this sweet girl. Due to schedule conflicts, I did not get to meet her mom and dad before the birth. She decided to make her arrival early and so we met for the first time at the birth. That is obviously not the ideal, but it was just lovely! They were so welcoming and I was excited to be there. In fact, Dad and I could have chatted it up all night. Good thing we had this sweet girl to switch our attention to.

The love was just thick in the air and I am so honored to have captured these special moments forever. Mom is an avid scrapper and I hope to catch a peak at what she does with these!

I got the chance to do Aaron's newborn session and oh was he an angel! He really put up with a lot and was the sleepy little man we needed to get some lovely images. His mom is so relaxed and natural with him and that makes a huge difference in our sessions. We even got some images with the whole family, including his sister who was not thrilled to be in the pictures at first. But I won her over ;)

I have known this sweet girl since her birth and have loved photographing her every three months. I have no idea how she has already gotten to nine months old! She is so beautiful. She has also learned how to stick out her tongue! It was so funny. She would get this lovely smile and then stick out that tongue. It was too funny. As funny as it was, I didn't sneak peak any of those ;)

That is right! March mini sessions are finally here. I apologize for the late announcements. I wanted to announce sooner, but I had to make sure I could get my baby bunnies. We have them though and are so excited for our mini sessions. They will be held Friday March 19th (It is spring break!) from 2-5pm and Saturday March 20th from 12-4pm. They will be at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens since the Arboretum won't let us bring in our bunnies :-)

15 minute sessions (just long enough for the kids to love on the bunnies but not squish them) 3 digital images, and up to 3 subjects. For more kiddos, please book two sessions back to back. Session fee is $75 plus sales tax. Payment is due in full when booking.

This birth was such a joy. Not only because it was incredibly fast, but because it was well deserved. This lovely family has a special place in my heart and they worked so hard to keep this little man healthy and strong while the waited for his arrival. Emotional rollercoaster! But he arrived peacefully and gently into the night to an amazingly strong mama who acheived her beautiful nautral birth. I know she was working hard, but she made it look so easy and beautiful. I had the joy of photographing the birth of a very special family. Not only did mom have to work so hard, but so did her support team. They were strong and determined and just amazing. I felt so honored to be a part of it.

My favorite part about this birth, though, was the music. Mom was playing praise music. She would sing her heart out through the contractions, with her sister joining in. Admittedly, I sang too. How could you not! I think I had cried at least three times within the first hour of arriving. Such joy and emotion. It was beautiful.

This sweet girl was one of my favorite newborn sessions and somehow she has gotten big enough for her 6 mth session! How does this happen. Sigh.

We went to the Gaylord to avoid the dreary and cold Dallas weather and enjoyed the controlled temp. She was an absolute doll, especially considering we woke her from a nap for her session. Plus we changed her outfit like 6 times!

Either way, she was just beautiful and all smiles for me. It was a great session and we were rewarded with some beautiful images...

I wouldn't normally say that my newborns are smiley. Usually they are sleeping! However, this sweet little man blessed me with a great big smile as his parents kissed his head, and I CAUGHT IT! You can imagine my glee! Not only that, but he was just wonderful and sleepy for our whole session. I felt very lucky. This little man was born early and spent time in NICU, meaning that he was older than normal. But he did wonderfully. Not to mention he has wonderful and loving parents whom I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. Enjoy these, you guys and congrats!

Maybe it was the weather this last week. Or me? But I walked in the door to See Eli again for his three month session and he immediately burst into tears! I was a little worried about what that meant for the rest of the session. He did cheer up though (after giving us so seriously cute pouty faces) after we discovered that he was much happier... naked! We were great with that and happily did the session with him that way. The chub was too much! Enjoy these!

I was so excited to see Miss Ella again. She has gotten SO BIG! However, she seemed a little unsure why I had invaded her house, dressed her up and stood in front of her with a toy acting like an idiot. ;) So she decided to stare at us for three hours. I think we got her to crack a few half smiles, but nothing like a real smile. I figure we just have to wait for the 6 month session. Either way, we got some beautiful images and the best part... a sleeping shot!

I got a call yesterday evening saying that this mama was in early labor, but she kindly waited until this morning to call anyone to come. Yeah for a full night's sleep! She was absolutely stunning. She was totally calm and peaceful and did wonderfully. Her support team (awesome hubby, a great doula, and two outstanding midwives) were there by her side thru it all and she just did great.

We were all excited to find out that it was a boy! One of the cutest moments though is when his big sister comes in the meet him and someone asks her what she thinks of her new brother and she replies, "I have a big nose." LOL! I think it was followed with a comment on how little his nose was, but no one heard it over the laughter. Gotta love the thoughts of a two year old. Ok, now the good stuff!!

This is one of my favs of the whole birth. He literally came out, went on mom's chest, lifted up his head, and looked at mom and dad. AMAZING. I love homebirth. Sigh.

I love doing maternity sessions. I just think mama's look so incredibly beautiful when they are expecting. This mama in particular looked amazing and was up for anything! We got some beautiful images with her daughter, who has outstanding curls. Seriously. I was totally covetting her hair! I am also really excited because they are doing the Belly, Birth and Baby package, so look forward to birth and baby sneaks too.

The last but not the least. I adore this one. Nursing has been a huge part of my life every day of the last 5 years. It goes so fast. Cherish every minute of this beautiful relationship. I loved capturing this moment in it's purity.

I had the joy of photographing one of my great friend's new addition. It is always so fun to cuddle a baby, but even more fun when you know his little family! This little man has slept well every day... except the day I come! Figures. The great thing though is that he was totally great. He was happy to just lay there while I did my thing. We did eventually get him to sleep. Oh and you all have to watch for some new additions from his wonderfully talented mama. She does my knitting!! I have an amazing new hat coming up soon!

I had the fun of getting to see this little girl again for her three month session. She had gotten so big already! Due to the cold weather, we headed to the Gaylord and found some beautiful little spots to photograph this family. She was in quite the mood and would not smile for me, but I held firm and we got some darling ones. She even happened to fall asleep and we got her in a basket. She was quite the attraction there! We had people coming up and asking to take pictures with her! LOL! It was great.

I had the honor of being there when this family planned to bring "Jinglebelle" into this world. It was a planned homebirth and this little baby decided to surprise us be being breech during labor. As circumstances worked out, I wasn't able to photograph her birth. I did get the chance to capture all the lovely moments that led up to it and then go back for a newborn session this last week. She is just beautiful and her family loves her more than any I have ever seen. I mean, ADORE her. She is a lucky girl and they are so blessed to have her as well. I love you guys and am grateful to have been there through it all! Enjoy these special moments...

I had the joy of spending my afternoon with this family. It was perfect! I got there just as the baby woke up from her nap. We had lovely light and darling children! It was great. I am so glad to have made it out there on short notice before the baby gets bigger and the big sister loses those front teeth! Whew! Just in time.

Baby Fever is what I got from this little man. Seriously, I could have snuggled him all day! I was there 4 hours, so I sort of did. He was all smiles and cooing at me as long as he was in someones arms. The minute we set him down... no way! But I am a smart photog and we got around it. I hope you love these as much as I love that little man of yours!

The mobile was supposed to make him smile and be OUT of the image, but I loved it in.

I was lucky enough to be at this little man's birth and was thrilled to get the opportunity to do his newborn session as well. He was an angel and did a great job, although I think he wore mom out with how hungry he seemed to be! Apparently laying on a blanket while someone takes your pictures is really hard work. Who knew!? He was especially cooperative with my hats. That is always fun. Mom even had a special hat that belonged to his grandpa. Enjoy you guys and good luck with your cutest little tax deduction ;)

{I missed one!} Dallas- Downtown- West Village Newborn Photographer

I had a whole bunch of sessions right before Christmas and somehow, I never actually posted the sneak peaks for this session! It was a fun one too. We shot downtown at Dad's office building for a different but INDOOR look. It worked out well, and despite a toddler who couldn't even be bribed, I thought we did well!

I went to see this sweet boy last week for his newborn session at two weeks of age. He was such a doll! Mom and Dad had some darling little outfits they wanted him in, so we didn't do a lot of naked baby stuff, but cute nonetheless. He had a darling nursery and we go to use that as well. It was so fun and he was so cooperative. Little love!

She had to labor lying down in bed the whole labor and still managed a beautiful natural birth. Her hubby was awesome and right by her side thru the whole thing. I love births like that. I had the pleasure of taking this little love's newborn photographs. She was so incredibly tiny and beautiful! Full head of hair, and no joke, slept almost the entire 3 hour session. She was weighing in around 5.5-6 lbs at the time of our session. It was fabulous! Thanks again you guys for opening your home and sharing your sweet daughter with me. It was a joy.

So this lovely little girl was 8 weeks old by the time I got to her to do her newborn session. While that isn't the ideal time, she was so great! The thing I love about older newborns is their skin. It was so creamy and smooth that I didn't have to do anything to it! She was an angel and but up with a lot, even kisses from her older brothers. Thanks guys for sharing your sweet family with me!

This birth was beautiful. It was full of love and overflowing with raw emotion. This mama labored for a long time and worked really hard. Her hubby was amazing. They both were. I was so honored to be there. We had a great midwife, and the actual birth was so emotional, that the whole room was crying when this little man arrived... nurse, scrub tech, everyone!

Thanks again you guys. You are a beautiful family and worked so hard to bring him into this world. You should be proud.

We had a cold morning this last week, so we opted to head to the Gaylord for our session. We got some beautiful images for the holidays and when the sun started peaking out, we headed out into the cold! I had the joy of attending this beautiful birth last weekend. Mom used Hypnobabies (check out Katherine's classes) and was so beautiful and relaxed. Yup, I had a session Thanksgiving morning, and I had SO MUCH FUN. Seriously, we laughed so hard. We went to the Grapevine and packed this kiddo all over as we stripped him naked, wrapped him in an America Flag, put him in snow filled buckets, and hung him in a stocking. It was great. I had the fun of doing pictures of these gorgeous kiddos (and teens) one afternoon last week. We met up at Arbor Hills and spent some time on the trails doing pictures. They were so great! I work with toddlers and babies so much I forget how much easier it is when you have subjects who will smile for you! Either way, they were totally fun to work with and I hope they love the results!

I had the joy of meeting this family for their maternity session a while back. We had to wait quite a while for this little miss to finally make her appearance and then a last minute family trip delayed us even more. But we finally, at three weeks old, got to do our newborn session. She is so big! And just lovely and sweet. The best light was at the top of their stairs and I would go up and down the rest of the afternoon. Let me tell you, I was sore the next few days! Wow.

Either way, it was so nice to meet the new addition and to see her big brother again, who graced me with some lovely smiles, and tried to push his sister over ;) Gotta love siblings.

This session could have gone very differently. I feel like the stars aligned and the sun broke thru the clouds and we were gifted with an amazing afternoon. This little man was NOT 10 days old. LOL! His parents didn't find me until he was 7 weeks old. I agreed to attempt a newborn session, making no promises for being able to actually get him to sleep ;) But he did it! The best part is that he has some of the coolest (and softest) hair I have ever seen! It sticks straight out all over his head. I adored it. This little man is on my Grow with Me plan, so expect to see more of his wild hair and stunning blue eyes.

This cool family happens to be close friends of our family, so I was really excited to get to do their family photos. I was at this little ones birth only two weeks before this and she had changed so much all ready! I couldn't believe it. She was just beautiful. She snoozed thru the beginning of our session and then woke up and was happy as can be just hanging out whereever I put her. She loved to look at the lights on the Christmas tree. She is just beautiful.

With all the births and newborn session I had going on last week, we had to work around everyone's schedule. I didn't get over to meet this sweet girl in the first week like we had hoped, but she was great anyway! She was another bigger baby and did so great for our session. She had quite the adoring crew... a brother and sister, who followed me around telling me all about everything! I love welcoming crews! The best part was that mom had some beautiful, antique family heirlooms that we used. Knit hats, blessing gowns, and other beautiful things that we incorporated into our session. I loved it!

Primal is the absolute best way to describe this birth. Not only is mom stunningly beautiful, but she was so full of life and expression during her labor and birth. Her first birth was really short, so when I got the call, I flew out the door and drove down Dallas. Got there with a short hour to spare. And was greatly rewarded with a beautiful birth. Enjoy!

I had the joy of capturing these two girls and their grandma's piano. Can you think of a better Christmas present? Not only were they totally willing and cooperative, they looked just gorgeous. It didn't take very long, but we had a great time. Once we were done with the piano, we headed out to their new pool and did a few there. I had a hard time deciding on my favorites!

I adore this family. I was there for the birth of their youngest son and we have been intending to get together again for family pictures and finally had a chance. They have just stunning children and are such a kind family. The love is very evident. This time we had Grandma and Grandpa, and uncle and a cousin join in the fun! Enjoy guys and I am so glad we could work it out with such tight schedules!

This one was so funny. I was talking to this little man and I said, "Was I the first ever to take your picture?" and he stuck his neck out and gave me the BIGGEST smile ever. Talk about melting my heart!

{Gaylord Texan} November Mini sessions

That is right! November's mini sessions have officially been announced! They will be on Saturday November 21, 2009 at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. It is absolutely beautiful there and the holiday decorations are stunning. This location is inside and has a ton of beautiful natural light, so no worries about bad weather or cold cheeks!

So here is the scoop...

Sessions begin at 10am. They will last about 20-30 minutes. They are for up to 5 people. If you have more than five people, please contact me before booking. You will receive 3 high resolution digital images emailed to you by December 5th so that you can send them out with Holiday cards. Each session is $90 plus sales tax. Payment is due now to hold your spot. I am doing a very limited number of sessions, so please understand that your session time is only secure once I receive your payment.

Lastly, there is no charge to get into the Gaylord. There is a parking fee, however, of $12. Come prepared to spend some time afterwards to look at the decorations and maybe even have lunch. Can't wait to see you all there! I love this time of year.

Amazingly, things work out the way they are supposed to. I was supposed to meet this couple on a weekday morning, but ended up having a client schedule an induction. So we quickly rescheduled for that afternoon. It worked out though, because the clouds and rain were rolling in as we were shooting! This mama has a fabulous and natural smile and I loved it! We even got dad to smile for us too. Hope you guys love them and thanks for a great session!

I had the joy of heading out to photograph this little man shortly after his arrival. We had a beautiful RAINY day and we cozied up next to a space heater and got some beautiful images that they will hopefully treasure forever. He was awake for a while and rewarded us with his beautiful eyes.

I am thinking they will be blue, but who knows!

This was a sad day for me. This was the first birth that I missed. AND BY 10 MINUTES!!! I know. Seriously. I had to travel 58 miles to get there and I knew it would be close. It was really hard and made my pretty bummed. I adore this family though. They are so loving and wonderful. Their daughter is something else. Not only is she GORGEOUS, but she has so much spunk. I am sure their new addition will only add to the fun. This mama was one tough cookie and endured days (weeks, maybe?) of prodromal labor. I heard she was quite the trooper.

I was grateful to get a lot of beautiful images in that immediate post partum time.

We had some rain in the morning the day we were scheduled to do this session. As this mama will be having her baby VERY soon, we didn't want to postpone it. We headed out in the drizzle and cloudy weather and were grandly rewarded! The light was amazing and we had a ton of fun. The Arboretum was nearly empty and we went to places I had never been. Watch for more of this cute couple as I am photographing the birth here soon!

Sneak Peaks?

I know many of you are looking at this post and wondering where the heck your sneak peaks are! Surely I can't be so slow that I go a week without any, right? HECK NO! Actually, I am so swamped that I am trying to stay on top of my sessions and editing. As much as I REALLY want to edit your sneak peaks (really, I do... it is my favorite thing to do) I am trying to finish up some sessions that families have been waiting on for awhile. As the holidays come upon us, I want to make sure everyone has the images they need for cards and family.

So, I am making good headway. I only have three things left on my list before I can get to my VERY long list of sneak peaks. When you see them start to arrive on here, you will know yours is coming! I promise, they WILL get up soon. I just have no promises on dates.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for everyone's love and support and understanding. Had I known how busy I would get over the holidays I would have hired a bus load of people to help me. As it is now, it is just lonely old me. Although I do see an assistant in the future! Don't be surprised if I have someone tagging along with me to sessions. WOOHOO!!!

This rain has been effecting my sessions! This brave little family decided that, despite the chilly temps, we would brave the weather for our maternity session anyway. I was so glad that we did. The light was beautiful and so was this mama! These two little boys cooperated perfectly and we all enjoyed ourselves, when we weren't freezing!

I love this family. I did their maternity portraits and then joined them for their birth. Tomorrow I am headed out to do newborn pictures. It is so much fun when I get to be there for everything. I really love seeing each family grow. I especially love this family though. Mom and I hit it off right away and I have fallen in love with their extended family after the birth. It was wonderful to see parents surrounded by so much love. It made me wish my family were closer. They have patiently waited for these all week, so without further ado, I will get to the good stuff!

I had the joy of seeing this cutie pie again for her three month session. We included mom and dad this time and headed off to the Arboretum. She was such a doll baby. She gave us some great smiles and even fell asleep for us! It was a beautiful day and we have some beautiful photos too. While I love chasing toddlers and trying to convince them to smile, it is nice once in awhile to photograph older kiddos. These two were so much fun. We explored the creek bed, found a really cool green lizzard, hiked up and down stairs and over bridges and had a wonderful time. The afternoon was gorgeous and the light beautiful. I was able to get some wonderful images of both kids, but also included mom and dad in some impromptu shots. Thanks you guys! It was so much fun. I hope you love your sneak peaks!

I was at this little girls birth only a few days before and had the joy of seeing her again for this session. She is just so YUMMY!!! Not only that, but I adore spending time with her mommy. We had so much fun and let me tell you, she put up with a lot. This was one of my best sessions yet and I won't tell you my secret. (hehehe)

Finally! It has been a crazy week around here and this lovely couple have waited way too long for their sneak peaks! I get the pleasure of photographing this mama's birth in November. I can't wait because she has to cutest belly ever! I had so much fun doing this session. Dad even took the afternoon off to be with us. I must admit that I had fun editing these too.

This was my kind of maternity session! I love my fellow earthy mamas and this one was no exception. She is just a lovely mama and I was thrilled to do her maternity session. She happened to be the lucky winner from the Mama Campaign auction (Please visit and consider donating- a very worthy cause!) and I am glad we got the session in before she had her babe!

We headed out to Cottonwood Park on a breezy and beautiful morning and she looked amazing! We did them in several locations, but after picking my favs, it was obvious that I loved the stream and grassy areas the best!

This sweet and loveable little man was the focus of our family session this week. In the craziness of having a baby (we have all been there) his mama forgot to have newborn pictures done. So, we attempted them at 7 weeks. While this is NOT recommended, he was an absolute ANGEL. Seriously, I could never have done this with my kiddos.

He loved the trees and was happy and calm while he modeled for me...

He had one of the best big brothers ever and was so happy snuggled in his arms...

I had the great joy of photographing the birth of this little girl on Friday. Just one day before her due date, she made her joyous arrival. It was a fun and beautiful birth, with mama laughing at 9cm. It was fabulous! She still had a lot of pushing work to accomplish, but was strong and amazing to the very end with a stellar hubby who reminded me alot of my own wonderful husband.

I had a lot of images that I really loved, so be patient with me as I post a bunch!

I had the honor of photographing this blessingway (similar to a baby shower) for angels, or babies who left too early, either by way of miscarriage or still birth. It was a beautiful and moving tribute to these angel babies who should be here with us. Thank you for the honor ladies.

I had the pleasure of doing this little man's newborn photos. He however, wasn't sure about that plan! We worked for about 3.5 hours at getting him to sleep soundly, but he would have none of it. He just wanted to be held, and with mom being so warm and comforting, I would too! We did manage to get some good ones though. I hope you enjoy these, mama!

Fairies in the Forest October Mini Sessions

Ok! I know everyone has anxiously been awaiting the details on this. PLEASE READ THEM VERY CAREFULLY! I don't want anyone confused on how these mini's are being run. It is different than normal.

These mini sessions are actually mini parties. Why? Well, since the whole theme is "Fairies" you can't very well have a "Fairy"! There is something about multiple little girls running through the forest together that is so much more ethereal. I also have found that they play off of each other in their make believe and are far less concerned with the camera.

The mini sessions are intended for girls ages 1-7. Children are preferred to be walking, but MUST be crawling. If they are not sturdy on their feet, the parent must be willing to be hands on during the session as I will not be able to keep track of them. This is really the case for every child and parent, but especially the babies. I am not willing to go much older than 7 unless your child is small or unless you are booking a session with other girls who are also older. I don't want huge discrepancies in height!

I have been asked by a few moms about boys coming as elves or gnomes. I am totally fine with this, but it must be done with a group who is also ok with it. So, I would suggest booking with friends. If that is not possible, I am happy to check with the other parents in a particular session, but if anyone is not comfortable, it won't happen. I know... it sucks. You might convince me to just do a boy session though! My 5 year old would be very happy!

You have a couple choices on how you book your session...

Choice One: Book as a group. Each session will have 5-7 girls. You can get together with your daughter's friends and book a session. If you have 7 girls, that session is full. Anything less and there may be another girl or two added to the group, but you are guaranteed to be together. Groups are given preference if space is available. Once sessions are full, they are full, so don't wait! The cost is per child. If you book for 5, you pay for 5.

Choice Two: Book individually. This simply means you book for your child(ren) individually. You will be put with 4-6 other girls for your session of choice, as long as it is still available. The cost is per child, not per session.

Confused yet? I hope not! So what are you getting....

Each session is 30 minutes. They are scheduled every hour. You should plan to be there about an hour. Arrive at the scheduled time, do a little prep work, make sure everyone is ready, begin the session, and then when we are done, make sure everyone takes home what they came with and leaves my items behind.

Each child (or their parent) will receive 5 digital images. You will receive at least 2 images of just your child. The other three will have your child in it, but may also contain images of the other children in the group. These images will be emailed to you in high resolution with a print release. I am happy to try and accommodate images of siblings as well. Please just ask.

All sessions will take place at Pranther Park in Highland Park. This is near SMU in Dallas. You will be given the exact location upon booking. I will have wings and flower wreaths available. The costume portions need to be yours. I am happy to offer suggestions on where to obtain them or how to make them if you desire. Thankfully, it is October, so there is not a short supply of costumes!

Each spot in a session is $30 plus sales tax. I accept check or cash. Payments are due upon booking. Group bookings must be paid as a group. This could be as simple as mailing 5 checks in the same envelope. As long as I receive all the payment for that group at the same time, I am satisfied.

Those are the only session times available at this point. PLEASE REMEMBER... I am on call nearly every day of my life for births. Babies do not wait. If I must attend a birth, your session will be rescheduled. It will be rescheduled on the same day of the week that it was originally scheduled and for the same time. I will do my best to accommodate your group as best as possible. If it is not possible, you will be offered another mini session time or a gift certificate for an individual session. I appreciate your understanding on this matter and that at times, very little notice can be given. I will do my best!

HOW TO BOOK YOUR SESSIONS:

Booking will begin at 9am on Friday, September 18th. No sessions will be held or booked prior to that time. This allows for groups to be formed over the course of the week. I know it takes time to coordinate efforts. I will not be answering the phone or emails on the 18th. You should call/email and leave your name, phone number, number of sessions you are booking, and your first and second preferences for day and time. I will go through the calls and emails in order and get back to you by Sunday evening. You will then be given either a confirmation or an alternative, depending on how fast they go.

I had the honor of meeting William and Charlotte. They are so beautiful and tiny. I am continuously amazed at how small our babies begin. They grow so fast. These two were surrounded by a whole bunch of amazing women who jumped at the chance to take care of them and one very strong and amazing mama. I was honored to be there.

As it always is with twins, it is a challenge to get them sleeping at the same time. We tried our hardest though and I am really excited about some of the images we captured. Without further ado, here they are!

So I seriously lucked out the other morning. Fall, or at least the rain, seems to have arrived here in Dallas. It poured rain all night and I was really worried we would have to reschedule our 3 mth session with my little man, Carter. Dawn broke that morning... and it was pouring. Sigh. I called his mama, and she said that it was sunny in Rockwall, so we were on! Seriously, it had to be a God thing, because there was this wall of black clouds and rain that stopped at Firewheel and we were blessed with cool weather, diffused sunlight and a great morning.

I know his mama is anxiously awaiting these sneak peaks... Enjoy!

Remember baby Caroline? Well, she is back, and this time with two adoring grandparents! They were here to visit and we couldn't pass up the chance to get them loving on her. We ofcourse got mom and dad in the mix too. It was a beautiful afternoon and we got some lovely pictures of the whole family.

This one just struck me. She is the size of grandpa's hand! Amazing how small we begin on this earth. I adore the way he gazes at her. If that isn't love, who knows what is!

This is the theme of our session... looking at the baby! It was pretty funny. I would say "Now look at the camera" and everyone would, except Grandpa. That baby girl was just so much prettier than I was. LOL! And isn't grandma gorgeous! I couldn't believe she was a grandma.

Remember the theme? More of that... in a beautiful location. This one looked unreal to me. Beautiful family!
